El Clasico… The Grand Battle of Spanish football… Two legendary teams One vs One… Messi vs Ronaldo… You can call it with at least a thousand names and it will still sound marvelous! The time has come for both teams to face each other for a first time this season in La Liga and fans all over the world cannot wait for Saturday night to hit the clock. Only 3 points make the gap between the two teams and the season is far from even halfway through, so this game comes maybe in good time for both teams to recover from a bad result in this clash and move ahead on schedule. So what are the chances for both clubs in this derby match?
Both teams started the season with a new manager and it will still take some time for both sides to follow their coaches’ philosophies and start playing like a machine. Tata Martino used Messi for 15 minutes vs Osasuna because of a slight injury and the Argentinian didn’t do much to prevent the first loss of points in the season for the Catalan side. In midweek Messi scored at San Siro for the equaliser against Milan in the Champions League and that goal set the final score to 1:1 in a game with both sides missing chances in front of goal. Messi will be 100% ready for the game, with Barca losing only Jordi Alba from the staring eleven, who is still recovering from a muscle strain and will be replaced by Adriano Correia. Barca is still the only team in La Liga, who hasn’t lost a game and they will try not to break that streak against Real.
The Madrid side on the other hand is quite fun to watch this season. The euphoric buying of Gareth Bale was quickly forgot and transformed in angry and sad chants by the fans and even players showed disappointment after Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti desided to sell Mesut Özil to Arsenal. The coming of Isco showed to be a great decision and the young ex-Malaga player quickly got in touch with the squad’s game and is playing fantastic since the start of the season. When it comes to Bale, the world’s most expensive player is still to make any impression since his arrival, having almost no playing time after getting an injury early on. As for it to be more difficult for the Welshman, Angel Di Maria is on fire right now and for the ordinary football fan it is unclear how he can sit on the bench for Bale. Karim Benzema translated his form from the national team in his club game and already made some misses that will be on many of the top 10 bloopers for the season. His struggle in form made fans to ask for Morata to play more often and the youngster showed he may be able to take the responsibility on his sholders.
Maybe the most important thing for all the Madridistas is that Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t moved an inch back from his topscoring form since his arrival in Spain. Not just that, he improves every season and right now he IS Real Madrid more than ever. Doing whatever he wants and keeping his goal per game ratio more than 1 in more than 200 games for Los Merengues, Ronaldo is ready to silence Camp Nou again.
We are up to another night of fantastic football and let’s just sit back with a beer and a snack and just enjoy the magic, called EL CLASICO!!!
