Champions League Round 3 Tuesday games
Tuesday night offers us some Champions League derbies, which are going to set the tone in the groups , with half the games done and half the points taken, of course. Let us review some of the more interesting games this round and try to take some benefit out of their outcomes.
Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund
The Derby of the round! Two great teams with affinity of attacking football and respectfully first and second their domestic
leagues. The Gunners had some easy challenges by now in the EPL and crushed Napoli and Marseille in the CL group, but with
this game coming, they are going on a really hard streak with hard opponents on the list – right after Crystal Palace they
are set to play with Chelsea, Pool, Borussia again and Manchester United with each of the games no more than 3 days apart.
Now it’s the time for the Gunners to show what they are made of and are they going big or going home!
Borussia are 3 points in 2 games and this clash is important for them in the race for the Last 16, with Napoli equal on points
and with strong Arsenal on the lead. If they get something from Emirates, they would be even in the race for the first spot in the group,
giving the fact that next round they meet Arsenal at home. Lewandowski will return to London for a second time this month,
after he lost his first visit with his National team against England on Wembley and this time he will try his best to upset
the home side. It will surely be a great game to watch, with two great teams facing one another.
Prediction: 1, Over 2,5 goals
Final Score: 1:2
Austria Wien vs Atletico Madrid
Austria took their first ever point in the Champions League against Zenit on Stadion Petrovski last round. Now they face the
leader of the group – Atletico, who won their first two games against Porto and Zenit and now are looking to seal the deal with first place.
Atletico lost for a first time this season in their visit at Espanyol and will try to shake that bad experience off their heads in Wien,
with maybe the easiest game in the group for them. Austria showed the Russians of St. Petersburg that they are not just an
easy 3-points challenge and now will have to stand strong against the spanish giants. Will it be just a Spanish march on Austrian lands, or
will it be another surprise for the ordinary football fan, we are up to see this Tuesday night.
Final score: 0:3
Milan vs Barcelona
The other derby in the program on Tuesday night. Barca visit Milano for a game against one of the San Siro residents, the red ones.
Milan found their now hero in the face of the Slovenian international Valter Birsa, who gave them another 3 points in the game vs Udinese,
after he did that same exercise against Sampdoria, with both times with spectacular golazzos. Barca, just like Atletico, lost
first points in La Liga last Saturday against the redzoned Osasuna, with Neymar and Fabregas failing to score on numerous occasions and Messi coming in
for Xavi in the last 15 minutes with no effect at all. Now Barca face tougher challenge in Italy, with the Milano giants setting their focus
for a win against the Spanish side. Mario Balotelli will most likely play for the Rossoneri and Messi will be in the starting 11 for his team tonight, both of
them making this game special without a doubt. We only hope it won’t be a one side game like the one in Barcelona the last time both teams faced each other.
